I'm not sure if it is I mean, I enjoyed it when it was in the cinema, but I've noticed the faults over the years. 8.5 on the IMDB (which puts this as the 61st best film of all time), 87% approval on RT with an average of 8/10 it seemed that the film was a worthy conclusion to the saga.īut then it wasn't. The combination of all of this meant that people were expecting a really good movie.Īnd if you look at the 'scores on the doors', they reflect this. Part of the reason for the hype was the (now widely mocked) prologue that had been released 7 months prior to the release of the full movie. As far as I know, this is the one and only time that this has ever happened. They were so high, in fact, that Rotten Tomatoes had to close their user comment section, because people were giving death threats to critics who disliked the movie. Coming 4 years after The Dark Knight, which is seen by some as the best superhero movie ever (and it is 4th on IMDB) expectations were incredibly high. I'm sorry for bringing up a superhero movie, but DKR fascinates me in more ways than one.ģ years ago in July 2012, (it honestly feels like more than 3 years ago, but anyway) The Dark Knight Rises was released following a massive wave of hype and expectation.
